Sangiovese Wine Weekend
September 26, 2015 @ 9:00 am - September 27, 2015 @ 6:00 pm
It’s safe to say that even people who rarely drink wine have sampled or at least know the name Chianti. Strangely enough, however, few wine enthusiasts are familiar with Sangiovese, the grape from which Chianti, and a number of other Italian wines, is made, either as the sole grape or as part of a blend. This lack of awareness is due to a number of factors, starting with the fact that Sangiovese, the most widely planted grape in Italy, is known by many different names; Brunello, Prugnolo Gentile, and Nielluccio being just a few.
It is in Tuscany, however, where Sangiovese reigns supreme and it is that area that the Colonial Sprits wine team has chosen to feature in this coming weekend’s World Wine Regions sale and tasting. As is the case with every regional wine event, every Sangiovese-based wine in the store will be available at a 20% discount for six or more bottles. We will also be conducting a tasting of a few featured wines on Sunday the 27th from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.
